Based within the ReViTALISE project, the Regional Research Teaching Hub (RRTH) has developed the @research website which delivers health services research training resources for Victorian health care professionals working across regional, rural and remote communities.

@research aims to

  • Improve access to research education and training opportunities
  • Build research skills to transform care
  • Enable development of regional research networks and collaborations
  • Increase and strengthen consumer involvement in research

The Regional Victoria Trials Alliance: Linkages, Innovation, Special populations, Equity (ReViTALISE) project is an extension of the Regional Trials Network-Victoria (RTN-Vic) that was established in 2017 with a 3-year grant from the Cancer Council of Victoria to improve patient access and recruitment to high quality cancer clinical trials at Victorian regional health services. ReViTALISE has been funded by a 5-year Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and will build on the initial success of the RTN-Vic through the development and implementation of seven unique clinical research initiatives across eight regional Victorian health services.

The initiatives imbedded in the ReViTALISE project are designed to address the disparity in cancer care in regional Victorian populations, particularly in their access to cutting edge clinical research, by focussing on the following areas:
  • Expanding the existing Regional Trials Network from 6 to 8 regional sites
  • Geriatric oncology, meeting the needs of the aging population
  • Registry trials to collect data from our specific patient populations to identify future research and treatment needs
  • Palliative & Supportive Care research programs to improve patient outcomes
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Clinical Trial Access Programs
  • Immunotherapy trials and education into immunotherapy treatment
  • Establishing a Regional Research Teaching Hub, (the developers of @research) to support staff in the upskilling required to conduct meaningful research in regional and rural settings
